No happy....
Feb 4 2008, 5:49 AM EST
I wrote these guides to understanding multitracking and vTakes a while ago and reading them back, I am not happy with the annalogy of dictaphones! I hope that someone with a better understanding of the technical side of things can provide much better guides!

A good analogy of multi-track recording would be the following: You are familiar with a standard tape recorder, which allows you to record a sound, rewind the tape, then play back the sound again. Now, imagine that you had four (or 8, or 16, or 24, etc) independent tape recorders that each had their own input (such as a microphone or guitar) but were all synchonized to play at the same time and speed. This way you could record different sounds on each of the recorders (Tracks) and then mix the playback of those sounds together. Hope this helps. Do you find this valuable? |

I think you would have to define these other concepts separately. Besides, I think most people reading the guides would have some understanding of multitracking. Maybe the most valuable topics might be how to get "the most" out of your MRS-8, etc. I would like to post a primer on general recording techniques. These are essential to turning out a great recording. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
